Added a value in existing characteristic but not seeing in DP Planning Book

We have a custom characteristic and client wants to add another value for the existing values. I added new value in RSDMD but when I go to DP Planning Book and open selection window I could not see the value that I added for that particular characteristic. Neither I do see if I go to /SAPAPO/MC62.

But If I go to RSA1 and check different Info Cubes that we use in our solution I could see the added value shown there.

What am I missing here?

Hi Charles,

If it's a navigational attribute, the value that was added using t.code RSDMD would have been seen in DP planning book. For the characteristics, you need to explicitly create the characteristic value combinations (CVC).

Pl use t.code /SAPAPO/MC62 and selection the button 'Create Characteristic Value Combinations'. In the resulting screen, define the new combinations. Then, it will be recognized by the DP planning book.

Rajesh,

Thanks for quick response. It is not a navigational attribute but it has two navigational attributes assigned to it. The value I added is for Characteristic and not for attached navigational attributes.

As I mentioned earlier that when I checked /SAPAPO/MC62 I could not see the value that I added to choose from so I cannot create new CVC with new value. This new value is also not shown in Planning Book. I had Re-activated PA and MPOS but still same situation.

Chuck,

As I mentioned earlier that when I checked /SAPAPO/MC62 I could not see the value that I added to choose from so I cannot create new CVC with new value.

I don't understand this statement.  Why do you think you need to 'choose from' a value when you create a CVC?  //MC62 is the place where you create the value for a characteristic for a Planning area.  Are you perhaps saying the new Characteristic itself is not visible in //MC62?

Chuck,

Thanks for the details.

After looking into your response, I tried to reproduce the scenario in my system. However, the master data maintained using RSDMD (with or without nav attributes) being reflected immediately in /sapapo/mc62.

Have you checked your infoobject and master data activation status? May not be a valid question as you already mentioned that other InfoCube can show the added value.

Probably, executing report RSDDS_AGGREGATES_MAINTAIN might fix the issue. Pl check.

Rajesh,

I ran the report you mentioned in your last email but no success.I also checked activation status of info object and master data and they are active.

Let me ask in another way my original questoin.

What are the steps you would do if you like to add a value in existing characteristic in production environment? Remember it is a custom characteristic with two navigational attributes but I added value in characteristic and not in navigational attributes.

Thanks,

Guys,

Today when I checked the MC62 txn and I could see the added value there. I had created a CVC using that added value and open a Planning Book I found the added value was there this time.

I don't know why I was not able to see yesterday in MC62. May be the report I ran mentioned by Rajesh had done something majic even though this report seems to make adjustments for product hierarchy.

Bottom line is my issue is resolved now. I am thankful for Rajesh and DB49 for their inputs.

Chuck
