Downgrade from Crystal Reports 2011 to 2008

I purchased Crystal Reports 2011 last month. However, we are using the Crystal Report Viewer in Visual Studio 2008 to view our reports. Most of our reports use dynamic parameters. It doesn't appear that the report viewer in VS2008 supports dynamic paramenters (weird... we had no problems with the report viewer in VS2005). So, it appears my only options are to (1) Upgrade to VS2010 or (2) Downgrade to CR2008.

Is it possible to downgrade my purchase without having to buy a new license?

This thread is currently in SCN Support which is the support space for SAP Community Network, not SAP products. Please move it to an appropriate space where topic experts will see and reply to it: SCN Site Index

I asked this question of my SAP account manager last week - answer is no.

Unless of course, you're a mega-corp in which case they'll probably do as you tell them, especially if you wait until end of quarter. 🤪

Not sure why you're muddling the VS versions with the Crystal Reports versions - the rpt files generated by Crystal 2008 & 2001 are identical. You just pick whichever runtime you prefer for Visual Studio.

I have VS2008 and CR2011. All of our reports have dynamic parameters. How do I deploy these reports with the ReportViewer without it stripping out the dynamic parameters? Can I use another version of the runtime ReportViewer to do this?

    • Hi Kate and Andrew,

You can get the runtime for CR for Visual Studio 2010 from here:

      Support Packs

      CR for VS .NET 2010

As for Dynamic Parameters it should work fine, it won't in the .NET IDE because that uses the old RDC Embedded Designer and it did not support Dynamic Parameters but ti should work fine at runtime.

And CR for Vs 2010 is not supported in VS 2008.

Make sure you are using the Assemblies version 12.x or 13.x for CR 2008/CR for VS 2010. If you are using the 10.5 then update your References, CR Basic does not support them.

      Don

I'm moving you post to the .NET SDK forum also.
