This well known error msg I get since a few days when scheduling a DeskI report in Excel format.
The expected size is about 7.6M (SMTP server excepts 20 MB).
I found some other discussions here reporting the same issue.
I just wonder why an almost 8MB xls file cannot be sent through a SMTP server allowing 20MB msg size!?
Sending a similar WebI(!) report as Excel it results in a 12MB file which is sent through SMTP
So I don't except here an asnwer blaiming the SMTP server. I consider this as a bug. What is the difference for sending DeskI>xls and WebI>xls?
The '-trace' mode does not show any hint - just the error stated above ...
thx & brgds, P
the file sizes might not be real representatives of actual sizes BOE and SMTP server will be dealing with.
Also, it is not clear who can possibly be able to read 5+mb size report.... What is the business requirement and usage model for this ?

this is indeed what we consider now 🙂
But as it is for a customer outside our network and we do not have / do not want (security) a ftp destination in internet it was considered to be sent via email until now!
(So a compress feature for SMTP wpould be nice: 7z compressed this xls file from 30 to 1 MB! 🙂
