MRP area activate and inactivate

we want to activate MRP area function in live system due to buseniss requirment.

but all planning file entries of the current client will be converted when activate MRP area, is it a risk for our live system?

otherwise, MRP Area can be inactivated after mrp area is activated?

    The planning is done at MRP area level, by default the MRP area is plant if you define separate MRP areas then they will be planned separately so it should not be any problem by activating an MRP area.

    Once MRP area is created only deletion flag can be activated, you cannot archieve just the MRP Area alone, you'd have to archieve the entire material. You can use the function module MD_MRP_LEVEL_CHANGE_DELETION to create a custom program to develop a custom Mass Change MRP Area TCode.


    You can prevent the planning of that MRP area by making the MRP Type in the MRP Areas as ND. This should be enough.

    Also, you may be able to delete the MRP Area from database table level in table MDMA either using reports provided by SAP Note or your custom ABAP development, but I personally would suggest to avoid them as there may be a good chances of having database inconsistencies which will eventually lead to ABAP dumps. For example note 621294.
