characteristics values are in non editable in sales order

Dear All,

I am deriving variant material from configurable material in sales order then all the characteristics values are in non editable, we need this characteristics values should be editable, please guide me how do this ….

where are these settings? I want characteristic values editable in sales  order.

Hi Mohan Madaiah,

when you say , system is not allowing you to change characteristic values of a material variant, it sounds perfect to me, Material variants are the preconfigured products which are setup with a purpose to sale and produce with this define attributes, why do you want to change it?

If you want a product with your selected attributes , create the sales order for configurable material, in popup for configuration , select values you want and once you finish check for variant matching, if there is any material variant which meets it , system will propose that material to be replaced in sales order, if not , the system will save your request with configurable material in sales order , and a production order will be generated to produce a product with your request attributes.

If you are setting up changes allow in characteristic values of material variant then what will be difference between a configurable material and material variant?

open the order in change mode click on extra configuration so that you can make changes in it (transaction variant0

Hello Mohan,

To allow the change of the configuration of a material variant in the sales order (transaction VA01 / VA02), the configuration allowed indicator must be set for the requirements class in the customizing for Sales and Distribution. The requirements class is determined using the strategy group and requirements type, defined in the material master. To check if the requirements class for the material variant allowed a configuration, please call for the material variant transaction MM03.At the MRP3-View you can find under Planning the Strategy group. In the customizing transaction OPPS you can get for this Strategy group the requirement class. In the customizing transaction OVZG you can check
in the field "Cnfg." if for this requirement class a configuration is mandatory or a configuration is allowed (*).

If the configuration is not allowed / mandatory in the requirement class, please change the customizing or use in the material masterdata a other Strategy group. e.g Strategy group 26

it would be an authorization issue - please run /NSU53 (when you do VA02) - in case of restricted objects were found please forward it to your sap security guys...
