Process Version confilcts using different NWDI tracks

we have a set of Processes in a NWDI Track running in our productive environment (CE 7.2). Now we want to create a new release of the application, that means

the current track will be used as a maintenance track and a new track for the new release will be created for the further development.

The new track will be filled by forwarding the content from the existing track.

At the end of the developmenet, the new track will replace the application in the productive environment. We have to ensure, that alle process instances which have been started with the processes of the old track will still run after the transport of the (same processes) within an other track.

I checked the process repository in the NWA and i saw that the process version contains the NWDI-Track-Name.

Are we getting into trouble be replacing a active process version from track a with a new version from Track B?

Has anyone experience with that?

A alternative solution could be, to forward the new Track B after end of development to the maintenance Track A to get the application into production, but that is not our favored solution.

Best regards

    Hi Frank,

it will not cause issues if you deploy the same process model from two different tracks. The track name in the process repository is only there for displaying purposes. The relevant information on the one hand side is the build timestamp (version column) and the deployment timestamp. The version of the process model that has been deployed at last will be automatically the active version. This one will then be used for new process instances. You can change the active version manually in the process repository by chossing "Activate" on a specific version.

    Best regards,

we are doing the same, no issue is found so far. but you have to make sure the approval UI in new track can still work with your old process definition.
