Difference between the fields "main work centre" and "work centre/pant" in SAP service order

Hi,

I would like to know what role does the fields "main work center" and "work center/plant" play in SAP service order.

Can the two fields have different values?

Can 2 work centers post against the same component in service order?if yes please explain how and how does if affect the invoice?
