Dear All,
In BW 7, I notice that when we collect the objects for transport, system will also add one object with type 'Datasource' in the transport request.
Does this mean that we no longer need to replicate datasource ?
Hi
System will take care of replication.
You need not do replication after transport.
But if the transport fails duw to Data Source replication problems better you replicate it.

Hi,
Yes.. At the time of collecting the object into the Transport Request it will be add with type "Data Source Active version".
As per the procedure, we need to to do the BW transports after the completion of R/3 transports in the landscape like DEV > QA > PROD.
If the scrnario is in QA system:
If the R/3 transports completed before the BW transports, It is not required to Replicate the datasource seperatly. Why because, as part of the import job the datasource will be replicated and active the data source in BW.
you can see this example/Scenario:
Some times the transport got failed with the error message the "Data Source" does not exit in source, when the datasource is not available in the source. it means at the time of import of the transport request the job will check the data source of R/3 and if not available it gives the above error otherwise it will replicate and avtivate the data source.
If it is in DEV system:
yes , you need to replicate the data source. if you have done any changes in the R/3 side.
it may help you
Thanks and regards.

Hi,
Once transport is done, check the status of the data source in target system. If it is active, then replication is not required. In case datasource/transfer structure is inactive, replication should be done so that the changes made in the source system will be reflected in the target system
But it is advisable to replicate once after transporting so that the changes will be reflected and all the objects will be activated.

Hi Murali,
You were saying "You have to replicate the datasource from ECC and also transport the datasource replica from BW Dev to QA to PRD."
Actually what this datasource replica really is ? Why do we need to transport this as well to QA and Production whereby we have already done the replication ?
Thanks.
No, you have to replicate the datasource. with the replication action, the datasource along with transfer structure will be overwritten the existing datasource.

Hi,
Check the Grouping and Collection Mode. If Grouping is In Data Flow Before/Afterwards/Before and Afterwards and Collection mode is Automatic, system will collect the necessary objects will be automatically collected by the system.
Hope this helps you

Hello,
Replication of datasource is always required when ever you change the structure of datasource in source system.
When you replicate the changes will appear in BW.
On other hand, transport will just transport the objects from one system to another. Grouping and Collection mode will help you to select and deselect the object you want to tranport to other system
Thanks,
Vijayeta
