Enter date of production during CO11N

Hi all,

During production order confirmation in CO11N, for this order, i got a message 'Enter the date of production for material xxxxx'. I do not get this message for all orders. Our batched materials have shelf life expiration date and production date is empty. Has anyone come across this message and what triggers this ?
