HANA migration from Oracle

Dear Experts

I need your advise on the best approach for migratiing to HANA

We have three systems ERP EHP7 with Oracle DB and we have to migrate to HANA. Please correct me if my migration approach is wrong

I will be migrating Production ERP system to HANA first (After performing one Test migration) and after success full migration I will perform the DEV and QAS migration. It mean, the migration of ERP Production system will be performed first then I will perform the migration of DEV and QAS. Please advise ?

    Hi Farooq,

It is not the good approach to migrate the landscape .

    Please follow the steps as

1.Prepare sandbox with copy of production Migrate the Sandbox ,you will get most of issue ,time line etc

    2. Make a copy of Dev system (on different host)

    3. Migrate Dev system

    4. Make a similar copy of production system (like size of hardware etc)as pre prod .

    5.Migrate Pre-prod system

Now you have experience of 3 run most of issue and optimization you can do and apply those in production run.

    6. Migrate Production system

    7. Install quality system and do the refresh with production system.

    Hope it will help you.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Farooq,

I did not understand your logic to migrate first production system where for any changes upgrade/migration even for transport changes we prefer to perform first in Dev/test systems.

I Agree with Atul's Approach to complete migrartion for your sytsems.

c.pngI got his approach from the SAPPress book Implementing SAP Business Suite on SAP HANA. On page 62 its written "The eventual migration of production support systems (development and QA) will happen after the production go-live. You typically don’t upgrade and migrate development and QA systems during the project because those systems are often not a good representation of production."

I am attaching the scan page for the reference

It is good to raise message with SAP ,I never seen scenario like this. And logically also it is not good .if during production migration if you have any issue which required object/change move from dev ,in that case using which system you move change.
