Hi Folks
I'm trying to export the data of reports in excel format ,it's exporting query instead of actual data . The issue is also local to a specific report & not to all the reports.
To reproduce the error
1) I run the report -> Click on export to Excel
2) When the export excel option opens the excel the file-name as query.xls instead of exportXXXX.xls
Is this a known issue, quite strange that its local to one
Regards,
Tridip
Hi,
It happened to us once because of “&” symbol in the Report internal name. When this was removed, the export to excel feature worked fine.
You might want to try that.
Another thing that we found was that it was a problem with the Report category we had assigned. All OOB reports in Analysis page had “Portal Report” as the category. When the custom query was changed to "Portal Category", it resolved the issue.
Thanks,

Hi,
OK, in our case the above 2 things had worked though to this day we dont know sort of bearing the special character had on the Export to excel feature
Again, for us it was consistently not working in all 3 environments - DEV, Q and PROD.
Would request other members to pitch in with their resolution steps.
Thanks,
Vikram
Hi Tridip,
I’ve not run into this particular issue, but may be little bit more info might help narrow down the issue.
If I understand correctly, when you export the report to excel, the report opens with the file name "query.xls". Does it contain data or is it blank? There will be more than one export to excel button on a Report, one at the top and one per query definition. Are all of those present the same problem? Is there a workbook template associated with the query definition or the report?
Regards,
Vikram
Hey Vikram
I was really looking forward to the expert advice from you on this one
Yes you are right, this issue pops up with any export button for that specific report
It does not contain data, its blank
There is no workbook template associated with this report
Now thats like all the weapons down Vikram, but am sure you would have the answers
Looking forward to that
Hope all's well with you
Cheers
Tridip
Hi Vikram,
Thanks for letting me know, dont worry about the help part, its enterprise software and we will get to the fix soon
Just to update you, we are on SAP Frictionless Commerce Native version 4.2, hate to say it, but we are working towards an upgrade proposal for 9.0 ramp-up and thats in the cards
In-case something else crosses your mind about the issue, do let us know
Cheers
Tridip
