Hi,

An IDoc (intermediate document) is a standard data structure for electronic data interchange (EDI).

IDocs are used for the data interchange between SAP systems as well as between an SAP system

and an external system. IDocs serve as the vehicle for data transfer in SAP’s Application Link

Enabling (ALE) system. The contents, structure, sender, receiver, and current status of the IDoc are

defined in the IDoc header.

When BW executes an InfoPackage for data extraction, the system sends a request IDoc (RSRQST)

to the Application Link Enabler (ALE) inbox of the source system. This IDoc (Figure 1) contains

information such as the request ID (REQUEST), request date (REQDATE), request time

(REQTIME), Info-Source (ISOURCE), and update mode (UPDMODE). The source system

acknowledges the receipt of this IDoc by sending an info IDoc (RSINFO) back to the BW system.

The status is 0 if it is OK or 5 for a failure

Hi,

SAP Query

SAP Query is SAP’s tool to define and execute once own reports without knowing ABAP programming

language.

Purpose:

• The SAP query application is used to create reports not already contained in the default. It has been

designed for users with little or no knowledge of the SAP programming language ABAP.

• SAP Query offer users a broad range of ways to define reports and create different types of reports

such as basic list, statistics and ranked lists.

• These outputs can include lists on screens in table format, ALV grids, downloadable spreadsheets,

and downloadable flat files.

The whole process comprises of three steps.

1. Creation of user group

2. Creation of infoset

3. Creation of queries

The transaction codes associated with ABAP Query are

• SQ01 - ABAP Query

• SQ02 - Infoset

• SQ03 - User group

View:When the standard extractors are not supporting the extraction what you need.If you create a custom object say by combining certain base tables in R3 say custom tables ZTAB1 and ZTAB2. These two tables are not SAP provided tables and there will not be any standard extractors. So cases like this you will have to go for generic extractors.

Hi Shiva,

1.WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN I DOC AND INFO-I DOC ?

When BW executes an InfoPackage for data extraction, the system sends a request IDoc (RSRQST) to the Application Link Enabler (ALE) inbox of the source system. This IDoc (Figure 1) contains information such as the request ID (REQUEST), request date (REQDATE), request time (REQTIME), Info-Source (ISOURCE), and update mode (UPDMODE). The source system acknowledges the receipt of this IDoc by sending an info IDoc (RSINFO) back to the BW system.

2. When do we use generic extractors?

When the standard extractors are not supporting the extraction what you need.If you create a custom object say by combining certain base tables in R3 say custom tables ZTAB1 and ZTAB2. These two tables are not SAP provided tables and there will not be any standard extractors. So cases like this you will have to go for generic extractors.
