Problem with OpenDocument on BO Edge Server 2011

Former Member

I'm trying to get OpenDocument up and running.

We are using Business Objects Edge 2011.

I tried to follow the instructions in the Edge Server Admin manual:

1. Go to the "Servers" management area of the CMC.

2. Select Manage > New > New Server.

The "Create New Server" screen appears.

3. From the Service Category list, select Core Services.

4. From the Select Service list, select the services that you want the WACS to host, and click Next.

• If you want the WACS to host web applications such as the CMC, BI launch pad or

OpenDocument, select BOE Web Application Service.

There was no BOE Web Application Service to select.

thanks,

Hi Steve,

can you explain why you are trying to use the WACS component?

If you are using a Java Application Server (such as Apache Tomcat) you should be able to access the OpenDocument service by pointing your browser to http://yourappserver:port/BOE/OpenDocument.

WACS is really only used if you do not want to run a Web Application Server.

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to view .swf files from a .NET Visual Studio 2010 ASP.NET app.

I am using the .Net SDK. 2010

I was told to use OpenDocument but I can't get it running on our server

We are running Apache Tomcat.

I tried your suggestion and got the following:

Hi Steve,

you'll have to use a complete OpenDocument URL as described in the "Viewing Documents Using OpenDocument" Guide for SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4.0.

It is most certainly the same for BI Edge 2011. Such a URL usually looks something like this:

http://yourappserver:port/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=<<CUID>>

Best regards,

Thomas
