Hi Experts,

We do not have the license for UK Address dictonary so

Can BODS use the QAS version of the UK PAF file and not the BusinessObjects version?

Thanks

Sarada,

No, I do not believe you can use the QAS UK data with Data Services.

I have never seen the QAS directory files, but I certainly do not think QAS and SAP came up with the same directory format and method of extracting that data.

Hi All,

I have a similar issue (perhaps even the same one), I'm trying to cleanse a table of UK postal addresses which have been manually entered by customers into a Royal Mail Postcode Address File format.

Can this be done using SAP Data Services or will I need to put the data through an external tool such as QAS Batch?

I’m using SDS version 4.0 SP2 which does have a Global_Address_Cleanse/UK_AddressCleanse transform but after reading the supporting documentation I‘m still not sure that it can provide the PAF results I need.

Many Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

I'm not sure I understand your question.

Data Services should be able to handle whatever input format you have.

The OP's original question was regarding trying to use the UK PAF(referential data) formatted by a different company with Data Services.

The question is, does your company have the UK data licensed from SAP?  If so, then I think you should be able to process the data.

Hope this helps.

Hi Brandon,

Thanks for the fast reply.  Sorry I didn’t explain my situation very well, I’ve added some more detail below to illustrate things better.

My current database has a table of addresses with the following columns.  I’ve entered one address as an example:

  • House Number:  7
  • House Name:  10 APEX CT
  • Address Line 1: ST GEORGE RD
  • Address Line 2: ENTERPRISE PK
  • Address Line 3: LLANSAMLET
  • Address Line 4: SWANSEA
  • Address Line 5: WEST GLAMORGAN
  • Postcode: SA6  9MP

These addresses need to be converted to the Postcode Address File format with the headings below:

  • Sub Building Name:
  • Thoroughfare Name: St. George Road
  • Dependent Thoroughfare Name: Apex Court
  • Dependent Locality: Swansea Enterprise Park
  • Double Dependent Locality:
  • Building Name: Unit 7
  • Building Number:
  • Dependent Thoroughfare Descriptor:
  • Thoroughfare Descriptor:
  • Post Town: Swansea
  • Postal County:
  • Postcode: SA6  9MP
  • Country:

Unfortunately the change isn’t just a restructuring of the data based on fixed transformation rules.  Each address must match against one of those recognised by Royal Mail as a valid postal address.  So my question would be; does Data Services include this external referencial data licensed by Royal Mail and allow any easy means to perform matches to it?  Can it be puchased through a supplimentary SAP license?  Or will I need to export my address data, match it inside a 3rd party tool like QAS Batch and then load it back in?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi All,

I am looking for the same.

How we can implement the PAF (Postal address file) for UK Address data cleanse in SAP Data Services(BODS).

Is it possible to implement that PAF in SAP Data services If Yes, Can anyone share the overview of the process to implement the PAF file.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks
