Hi experts,

I want to do Homogeneous S/m copy MAX DB database.

Please suggest.

i read 129352,457425 but not get clearity.

Please suggest a stream way.

1. What is the version of your database?

    What is the type of your database? LVC?

   SAP notes:

    129352 Homogeneous system copy with MaxDB (SAP DB)

    457425 Homogenous liveCache copy using backup/restore

I am using version 7.6.03.09 --OLTP.

and contains 3 data files having 1 GB size of each. i what to do system copy of this database to other server.

FYI this database not contains sap DATA.

Dear Vivek,

That SAP Note 129352 - Homogeneous system copy with MaxDB (SAP DB) is clearly telling you the required steps for system copy.

1. On Source system:

1. Create a full backup of the system:

          Database Manager GUI First Edition: DBMGUI -> Backup -> Complete

                              or

           Database Manager GUI Second Edition: DBMGUI -> Backup -> Backup Wizard -> Complete

2. On Target system:

1. a) SAP Software & MaxDB DB Software installation :

                              If you are rebuilding the system from scratch (in other words, there is  no software installed), use R3INST, R3Setup, or SAPINST to import the  SAP instance software and the database software. After you have done  this, you can terminate the installation program (if supported).

1. b) MaxDB Database Restore:

                              Before the restore, you must initialize the target instance "Recovery with Initialization....". This  initialization formats the log area. Data volumes are only formatted if  they are not configured as raw devices and are not available in the configured size.

I am doing an import with sapinst (SPM) and is asking for DB size  1TB  but source system has 150GB

What can be happening?
