My company will be installing the portal in about 3 months so Im tring to get a jump start on some development projects, however the more I read about and try to impliment configuration for the portal the more i'm questioning how much of it is installed in the Sneak Preview. I would like to play around with simple things like create Iviews from transactions, which i've read requires an ITS server, and more advanced things like develope dynpro pages and plug them into the portal, which i read requires a dynpro server. Does the Developer Edition come whith these things? Is there a good document out there that really walks through the configuration for them explaining details such as the installation location (url):(port) of the dynpro server or ITS server ... also does it matter if my R3 system has been upgraded to ECC5 yet or can i still use our 4.6 system as a valid jco destination?
thanks,
Roger
Thanks for the info, how did you figure out the configuration. I've been able to to connect to R3 under systemadministration->System configuration->UM configuration->Sap system but I dont know what else to configure - Is there a getting started configuration document anywhere? Is setting JCO up enough to do transaction ivews?

Hi Roger,
There is a wealth of information available right here on SDN under

Hi Roger,
The sneak preview is a great place to start for getting a head start on the portal stuff.
To my knowledge the only thing you dont get in the sneak preview edition is adobe forms. Other than that you are in the same position as you would be using a full release.
You do need an ITS for the ESS\MSS business package but you can point the portal to an existing instance.
All of the neat things like collaboration, query iViews, transaction iViews (i pointed my dev edition to the minisap dev edition) etc are all possible.
And as far as I am aware the 4.6 system would be fine as a JCO destination.
Good Luck!
Daniel
