Jean,

Compound Attribute - Diffrenciates a charactyeristics so to make it uniquely identifiable.Eg, if the same characteristics data from different source systems means different things, then we can add the compound attribute 0SOURSYSTEM (Source System ID) to the characteristics. 0SOURCESYSTEM is provided with Business Content.

Time Dependent Hierarchy Structure - This consist of nodes that are time dependent. The hierarchy itself is not time-dependent, Eg Let say Kuala Lumpur office is listed twice in hierarchy; Before January 1 2005, it belongs to Peninsular Malaysia, on and after January 1 2005, it belongs to the Asia Pacific Region.

Time Dependent Entire Hierarchy - Is time dependent hierarchy whose nodes are not time dependent.Eg - One hierarchy is for the period January 1 2005 to December 31 3005; during this period the Kuala Lumpur office belongs to Peninsular Malaysia. The other hierarchy is for the period January 1 3005 to December 31 say 9999; during this period, the Kuala Lumpur office belongs to Asia Pacific Region.

Jean,

A compund attribute would be like this:

1. In Sales we have the invoice and Order.

An Invoice cannot be raised without an Order - and the invoice will have a reference to Order in its Keys.

Here in the BW Scenario - 0order would a compund attribute of 0invoice - where the compund attribute refers to a foreign Key relationship.

2. Time dependent Hierarchy - All nodes of the Hierarchy are time dependent where each node has a start date and end date.

3. Time Independent Hierarchy - where the nodes are not date relevant.
