Accessing PI object History

Hi Experts,

I have a requirement to add version number in a target xml field. Whenever there is a change in DT (data type), that version number of that DT should go to that field autometically.

So if we can read the history of an object (Here DT history), we can resolve the issue, but how can I read the version number from object history.
