Posting blogs on our own ID

Hi,

In new SCN we have got blog ID's for ourselves. But posting a blog on that does not earn you points. If you post in space only its given points. What about likes and ratings on posts in our own ID? When we move it to a space, will we get the 10 points? If not so, what is the purpose of our own Blog ID?

Fareez

Hi Fareez,

You have to post the blog in a space to earn 10 points. If you create the blog in your own space(personal space), the you will neither earn this 10 points nor the feedback points through likes and ratings. However, you can move your personal blogs to relevant topic spaces where they can start earning feedback points. But you will not get the intial 10 points for contribution in this case.

The purpose of personal blog is to provide private space for everyone to write and maintain blogs in SCN. This way you can write personal blogs of your SAP experience in SCN which otherwise may not be meant/relevant for any topic spaces in SCN, and circulate the links with the targeted audience. By this SCN provides you the personal space in the reputed SCN site which of course is a benefit for everyone. Just think of you writing a personal blog related to SAP in another public blogging site and compare it with writing it in SCN. How do you feel? And think how would the people who read the blog feel? It certainly is different with SCN and public blogging site. You will get more visibility and reputation if you use SCN for blogging. Since this facility is for everyone's personal purpose and it is not directly contributing to SCN spaces, no points will be granted or can be earned. But you can see how may people have rated/liked your blog and get the feedback. Another advantage for this is, readers don't need to log in to SCN to rate the blogs in the personal spaces. They can rate the blog without logging in. Hope this is clear for you.

Thanks for your understanding. Keep posting your suggestions and concerns which can help us to improve the features and quality of SCN.

Best Regards,
