Hi,
Changeability Indicator (1,2,3,4,5 AND ^) set in Release Indicator during designing of release procedure which act how purchasing document will behave after release. The Changeability Indicators description is well explained the usage of it and if use it, then can have difference in it.
But changeability indicators 1 to 4 can be used for purchase requisition & the changeability indicators 1 to 6 can be used for external purchasing document like purcahse order, contract and RFQ.
Generally changeability indicators 4 used for purchase requisition & the changeability indicators 6 can be used for purcahse order and contract. But some times changeability indicator 1 used if Purchasing Document can not required to change after its release.
More in details, check links for usage in PR and PO:

- Changeability indicator 1-4 is used for PR. But even though if you maintain 1 for PR which says you can't change the PR after release but you can still change the PR unlike PO where you can't change the PO. this is standard SAP. Check this OSS note - 493900- Q1
apart from that, all the changability indicators helps you to configure the system as such whether you can change the PR/PO after release or after output(only for PO)

Hi Sumit,
Here are the details:
1 Cannot be changed : Release strategy cannot be changed/ no new release
2 Changeable, no new determination of strategy : You change the documents with respect to the chracterstics or indicators of the strategy. But not new strategy will be determined
3 Changeable, new release in case of new strategy : New streategy will be applicable in case of any change in strategy and not in documents fields ( defined) |
4 Changeable, new release in case of new strat. or val. change : Most of them are using and even standard. new release only incase of value or new strategy. if you output the document, no release will be applicable. in this case 6 is the best option
5 Changeable, new release if new strategy/outputted |
6 Changeable, new rel. if new strat. or value change/outputted

Gowri
