Edited web dynpro theme... and lost buttons :-(

Former Member

Hi all,

I edited the theme of my web dynpro application... and lost a lot of my design, despite I strictly followed the how to guide:

- icons that got displayed previously are not anymore (for calendar help, drop downs...)

- tabstrip toolbar are not getting hidden when not selected anymore (leading to the situation where I now have three toolbars being displayed instead of one at a time)

Do anyone of you have had the same problem ? How did you solved it ?

Thanks a lot

Hi,

I hope u remember downloading a zip file called NW04Stack09Themes.zip and using it.This is supported for Stack 09 only and not for Stack 11.

For stack 11 they might offer some other files. (And i think its not available yet.)

To solve the problem either revert back to stack 9 or wait till you get NW04Stack11themes.zip.

I think there is no other viable solution at present

Well, actually I haven't change images (still using standard ones).

By the way, maybe you are right about stack !! I've been looking for it without success, the reason why I finally decided to use this stack9 file...

Thanks,

Hi Caroline,

SP11 Web Dynpro requires the usage of SP11 Theme Editor. For how to download see my post to

Hi,

Images will definitely exist .Otherwise it will show that its not available.

Wat I am trying to say is replace the images with standard images.

If that does not work out.. Go to the theme and bring back the default settings for buttons, arrows and scroll bars .Deploy it again.

This should make it work

hi ,

Since the theme is coming correctly i assume u have done all the settings in the Visual admin properly.

Go to this path

Z:\sap\C06\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\temp\webdynpro\web\sap.com\tcwddispwda\global\SSR\themes\sap_highcont\common

and check the color of arrow pictures and whatever is not visible ... Try pasting these pictures from the existing themes (use the same image name ..jus overwrite this,,)and see if its being displayed... Its worth a try

Well... As you told, it worth a try... But unfortunately I tried all that came to my mind to ensure images exist, and they do exist (also, by entering the whole URL of image http://<servername>:<port>//webdynpro/resources/sap.com/tcwddispwda/global/SSR/themes/my_theme/common/inputfield/ico12_calendar.gif, it is being displayed correctly)

Hi,

I cant understand your problem.

Unless u put the theme path in sap.theme.default you cant apply a new theme(custom theme).

And sap.useWebDynproStyleSheet comes into picture only if u deploy it in portal..And that also has nothing to do with making ur buttons disappear.

Please do elobarate more on the procedure u had followed.

After copying the theme to the SSR\themes folder u have to set sap.theme.default...

Hi Bharathwaj,

Here is what I've done:

- Created a new theme using theme editor (plugins of Developer Studio)

- Copied the resulting directory (my_theme, located under directory portal) onto server, in theme path (.../global/SSR/themes)

Here is where I am now: styles are being displayed correctly, BUT now I have two problems:

- icon of calendar disappeared (now, I just have a grey button instead of normal icon), the same for arrows on right of inputfields where value help is enabled (also grey button). Despite those icons seem to be correctly defined, and are on server

- toolbar of tabstrips is always being display, even if tab is not selected...

-> I can't find any place where I could specify behavior of tabstrips toolbar...

Hi TWM,

What excatly you have done for this custom theme?

Did you changed existing theme and replaced it?

And how much you have changed in it?

And also what is the WAS version?

Let me know.

Hi TWM,

I assume u are talking abt the arrow icons getting disappeared..

We also had some problem with that.Thats a bug in themes. (I guess so..Have to confirm with SAP guys, though!).

Are u editing the color of ur scroll bar.Dont change the color of scroll bar.Keep all the properties of scrollcontainer UI element to its default settings and try if its working.

Hi TWM,

As you said, Your custom theme is not applied properly to your application. When application can't load theme properly it will show excatly what you seen.

How you have applied theme to application?

Thanks to all of you for your answers... I'll try to clarify as much as I can:

- what I've done: as told in How to edit web dynpro theme, I edited SAP theme and saved it under new name (my_theme), then uploaded this theme to server (in directory /usr/sap/.../global/SSR/themes/)

- as far as I understand, at least some part of theme is correctly applied (maybe the whole is applied ?), as colors, ..., changed.

In fact, not only arrow icons disappeared, but also calendar icons.

Added to that, some bugs appeared, as I told, with tabstrips.

Hi TWM,

What is the version of WAS.

And one more thing. How you uploaded the my_theme on server. Means what folder you copied under /SSR/themes/

there are two folders created under my_theme folder. One for ITS and Portal. So, copy contents of portal folder into /SSR/themes/my_theme.

Then check once again.

Hi TWM,

What are the contents in this my_theme folder.

And what is the service pack of WAS 6.4 you have?

Hi Bhavik,

I have sp11 installed, and content of my_theme folder seems to be normal...

For example, in folder inputfield, I have icons that should be used for calendar (ico12_calendar.gif) and help dropdowns (ico12_help_options.gif)

By the way, is there something I can do while editing my theme to alter the behaviour of elements ? I can't understand why those tabstrip toolbars are not being displayed / hidden properly now !!

Thanks for help,

Hi Caroline,

I'm think I'm having the same problem as you. Changed a theme in sp11 and all buttons, dropdowns stopped working.

It's some sort of problem that occurs in sp11.

One thing you can do for now is to

go inte visual administrator --> Services --> Configuration Adapter --> webdynpro --> sap.com --> tcwddispwda --> Propertysheet.default

Set Properties:

1. <b>sap.useWebDynproStyleSheet = 'true'</b> This will remove the changed theme from your webdynpro app and instead use the default stylesheet of the webdynpro. The theme of the portal will stay the same but the theme of your webdynpro iview will change, using the typical blue background color of wdp.

This will probably enable your buttons again.

2. <b>sap.theme.default</b>:

http://<computername>:<port>/webdynpro/resources/sap.com/tcwddispwda/global/SSR/themes/<your_new_theme_folder>

I'm not sure of this one, but if you enter the path like above to that of your new theme, it might solve yor problem. I haven't succeeded myself though...

Don't forget to restart J2EE enginge after having applied any of the above changes

Hi Olof, thank you very much for your helpful answer... Unfortunately, it seems that we are not able to change those properties (maybe some problems with rigths). I'll come to you as soon as I am able to try this configuration, at least to tell you how much did it change

Caroline
