EHP5 Upgrade stuck in MAIN_NEWBAS/RUN_RSAIMMERGE_UPG

Hi,

We are upgrading our EHP4 system to EHP5. In Downtime phase, at job MAIN_NEWBAS/RUN_RSAIMMERGE_UPG the upgrade got stuck.

The Error is "A2EEAIMMERGER 003 Error when determining the tp interface version".

Target kernel stack is 720 sp 120.

tp.exe present in sys\exe and dvebmgs00\exe are not working. When we execute tp in cmd, we are getting below error,

tp=>sapparam(1c): No Profile used.
tp=>sapparam: SAPSYSTEMNAME neither in Profile nor in Commandline
This is tp version 380.03.58 (release 720, unicode enabled)
tp returncode summary:

TOOLS: Highest return code of single steps was: 0
ERRORS: Highest tp internal error was: 0203
tp finished with return code: 203
meaning:
  wrong syntax in tp call

Has anyone faced this before. Please let me know how to ressolve this.

Hi,

Regarding your issue, I would suggest you to increase the value of

em/initial_size_MB as it is mentioned in the note 1460004

1460004     High memory consumption in upgrade phase RUN_RSAIMMERGE_UPG

Hi All,

Issue has been resolved.

Error was caused due to old IP address entry in Host file. Once we corrected the entry, everything was fine and upgrade moved to next step.

Hi Siva,

Ensure there's no tp & r3trans running currently. Check is there any updated and latest TP and r3trans from SMP. If yes, download and place it to /DVEBMGSXX/exe and /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/../../uc/

Also, you can try to copy the tp and r3trans from DIR_PUT/abap/exe to /DVEBMGSXX/exe and /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/../../uc/

Besides that, please check is there any canceled RDD* in your system.

Hi Chang,

There are no canceled RDD* jobs since upgrade has started. All jobs are successfully completed.

Even though they are of same release and sp level, i have copied tp and r3trans to sys/exe and dvebmgs/exe.

Still there is no change, the same error is coming.
