backup of data source in SAP ECC

Hi,

We want to do our ECC QAS Database refresh with PRD. Our ECC QAS is connected with BW QAS so we would like to know how to save BW related data source in ECC QAS so that after DB refresh in QAS we can restore BW data sources back in ECC QAS.

Hi,

We have done lot of time's this type of scenario where as we are using through tape backup procedure.

What the procedure in  your company to take the backup of PRD is it incremental tape backup or else BCV tape backup?

If your using BCV  tape backup procedure then take the complete BCV tape backup of your PRD system, then log in in to your QAS system at D/B level, then identify the file system related to your QAS system you will find easily y bcaz it consists of naming convention of your system.

Please delete all the files i.e., data files and tell the restoration team to start the tape backup in the given file system.(Don't delete the folder which consists of your QAS server name).

Example i am giving to you.

if your file system is below:

/oracle/QAS/sapdata1

/oracle1/QAS/sapdata2..........

kindly delete only the  sapdata folders as well all the folders under your QAS.

Guide the restoration team where you have to restore the file system, i.e.,

you take the file system backup of your PRD.

for example u take backup of /oracle/PRD/sapdata...

it has to restore on /oracle/QAS under.

it will store like  /oracle/QAS/PRD/sapdata.... like that  once the restoration has been completed u can move the files it's not a problem.

In this scenario no need to touch your BI system.
