Hello Gurus,

at a homogen system copy with sapinst we get the following error.

MDB-06020  File not found: [/oracle/BW2/sapdata1/system_1/system.data1].

Thats right because the File is at /oracle/BWT/sapdata1/system_1/system.data1 after restore.
But what we have to change that sapinst can find this file. Is someone known the point at keydb.xml ?
Some suggestions?

regards
Chris

Hi Chris

I hope this is a test system copy cause the SID's seems to be different. Anyway, you can search keydb.xml for 'BW2' and then you can replace it with 'BWT'.

Also, could you elobarate what exact procedure you followed for this system copy w.r.t source & traget system details.

Hello,

we changed the SID in kexdb.xml but at point load system tables spinst stops with:

more than one row in systems table has SID BWT

So this solution is not possible.

Hello Christian,

just out of curiosity - why do you use SAPINST for performing a system copy?

Yes i know it is the "official" way, but doing it with BR*Tools (or RMAN or IBM Flashcopy) and adjusting a few files is much less effort and the cloning procedure is much faster.

Stefan

P.S.: As a "dirty" work around you can create a symbolic link to get SAPINST working.

Hello,

the target host, has no sap installation before.

We have to copy a NON-Unicode system on this blanc host.

This is only (clean) possible with sapinst.

Thanks for the dirty hint.

Hello Christian,

even with a new host - the unofficial way is working (rsync or tar) and even faster

However great that the "dirty" work around works.
