Dear gurus,

i have one query ,one raw material is purchased on purity basis like NAOH : 30%,50%100%

It's unusaul to have one material number for that type of product.

The only way I can think of for you to do this is to create three identical inspection plans with the only difference being the spec for the NAOH purity which would be maintained directly in the inspection plans.  (not my favorite approach).

When the lot is created, it will be in CRTD status as the system won't know which plan to use.  Someone then goes into the inspectoin lot, (via work list QA32 probably) and selects the right plan for the material received,  i.e. 30, 50 or 100% plan.

Normally I would recommend three different material numbers however.  Once inspected, you could use the stock posting screen to manually post the three materials to a fourth generic material.  You could even automate the process by having a UD followup action that simply looks at unrestricted stock for any of the three specific materials and does a stock posting to move them into the generic material number.  That way the QM people don't have to do the manual stock posting in the UD.

FF,

could you please explain the importance of multiple specification tab in qp02 header or in mm02.

That is new functoinality put out by SAP in 6.0 I believe.  It is designed to allow you to set up multiple specs in based on some type of criteria, usually a customer number.  Possibly a country designation.

When the lot is created, there is an extra tab showing the specs for each set up customer, or each set up country.  The characterisitcs are than evaluated for each of these and a valuation of OK or NOT OK is given for each customer, or county.  This valuation is then passed to the batch record into a characteristic, for example OK_FOR or NOT_OK_FOR.  These are multiple value characteristics where the customery number is enterred into the correct characteristic.

You then use batch search strategies to select or not select batches for customers or countries.

I don't think this can work for you as there is nothing to base the spec on like a customer number or a country code.

BTW:  If you always get the same type of material from the same vendor, then you could create multiple inspection plans and assign them by vendor.  You might be able to use vendor for the multiple specifications.  I can't remember if multiple specs is available for 01 inspections and I can't check cause my current client doens't use multiple specs and it isn't configured for it.

But the multiple plans would work.

30%NaOH

Vendor a, b and c

50 NaOH

Vendor d and e

100% NaOH

Vendor f

This will not work if you have one vendor supplying two grades however.  But if you could then assign that vendor to two plnas for instance and then only in that case would someone have to manually assign the correct plan.  So ifyou only have one or two vendors supplying more than one grade, it might be acceptable.

Hi Siva,

I am not sure what exactly is your requirement. Seems that based on the chemical contents the specifications vary lot to lot. I suggest you should go for additional characteristic. Click on the symbol as shown below (In QA32 transaction after clicking results tab). You will be prompted to create inspection characteristic dynamically. Give appropriate specifications there and record the results. Kindly note this change will be restricted for this lot only.

Alternative 2,

If you have standard set of parameters based on purity contents, create 3 different inspection plans under the same usage. Lot will go in CRTD mode. At the time of result recording select appropriate inspection plan out of these 3, so that the respective specifications will be populated for that lot.
