Material has no stock but per unit price has some value

Hi,

While month end closing we have issue that for a spare part material per unit price is wrong. There was no stock for the material so it should be zero but it is showing some value .Valuation type "REFURBISHE" Material ledger valuation is activated. Price control indicator is V. Price determination indicator is 2 transaction based. In material master record Under accounting 1 tab standard price is showing as zero. But "per unit price" is showing 64536.98 . What could be the reasons for this and how to solve the issue. Please provide your inputs.

Thanks&regds

The price is not wrong. SAP keeps the last average price even if the stock goes to zero.

When you're closing months you should look at stock value (which is zero), not average price.

The reason to keep the last average price is simple (and useful) since that is the price the system uses to make evaluated inventory adjustments. Lets say you have stock 0, and your inventory says you have 10 units. Keeping the last price lets the system make an estimated valuation of the "found" items.

If the average price was zero, as you wanted, the inventory document would either throw an error (because of missing valuation) or just post the 10 items at zero valuation (which is just plain wrong).

Hi Sousa,

Thansk for your reply. How can i confirm that per unit price 64536.98 which is showing in my system , is the last average price or not? Is there any table to check that  this is the last average price? Please explain

Thanks & regds

If material ledger is active, you can get it in CKM3N

otherwise check MBEWH table or report S_P00_07000139

use report S_P00_07000139 to check moving average price.

Check Table MBEW & MBEWH for MAP

If you have material ledger is easy but either way you can check all stock movements for that material (MB51), sort them by creation date descending, and the document on top will have the last average price.

Hi Sousa,

Thank you very much for your clarification. I have one more doubt last , Appearing last MAP in the material master record eventhough stock is zero;  Is it standard SAP behaviour or our config settings? Please explain

As far as I know it's not configurable, but I can't tell you 100% sure.

Hi,
If 'Price Unit' shows some value then it is OK.
But if 'Total Value' shows value when stock is zero then it is problem.
This may occure due to change in customization for material type for value update.

Check MB5K for inconsistency.

Per unit price is moving average price.. it's calculated based on MIGO and MIRO with respect to PO price. if your stock is Zero, then system will show the stock value as zero but price won't be zero.

do you find any value in Total value filed? if there is no material, this should be zero, Moving price field will show the last value.
