For NLAG & UNBW both you can use "K" as account assignment, No need of Item category,

Non-valuated material (material type UNBW): This type of material is managed on a quantity basis, but not on a value basis. This makes sense for materials of low value, stocks of which nevertheless have to be monitored (for example, operating manuals).

Non-stock material (material type NLAG): Inventory management is not possible for these materials either on a quantity or value basis. For frequently required consumables, the use of this material type nevertheless enables you to store the information required to create purchasing documents (such as texts and units of measure).

Hi,

NLAG : Non stock materials are not held in stock because they are consumed immediately like pens for HR Department....etc...

UNBW: Non valuated materials are managed on a quantity basis, but not by value like advertisement material etc.....

Every company have there own definitions of categorization of NLAG & UNBW Material type, I know companies maintaining Assets & high valued material as UNBW, So you youself  have to decide which material you would like to put in this categories.

Hi,

For both NLAG and UNBW  require cost object assignment during PO creation e.g cost center, sales order, project stock, internal order etc.there is no restriction. You can use the possible account account assignment and item category combination as per your business requirement and can make settings in configuration likewise.

for both UNBW and NLAG, account assignment is mandatory but there is no restriction in using... you can use K if the cost is incurred to cost center, use F if the PO is expensed to orders and etc..

speciality about UNBW is you can consume the stock to cost(purchase cost) center during MIGO and at the same time you receive the stock to stores. so later you may issue the goods but accounting documents won't be created.

usually consumables are procured directly through PO with text but in some cases you may need a record and hence NLAG materials are created.
