Hello,
I have been trying to run HANA Express edition (1.0) on my mac but I am having trouble while trying to connect eclipse to the HANA Express server. I am running express edition server on oracle virtual box. I have been able to login as hxeadm and change password of SYSTEM. The issue is eclipse gives error which says"the system can not be reached. Logon data could not be used."
When I try to ping (using the same machine that vm is running on) the vm ip address I get a time out error. Which makes me think the error is that eclipse can not reach vm. I have checked and SLES firewall is not running.
I am not sure where to go from here . Any pointers?
Thanks !
The issue was with the VM network settings. If I remember correctly I had to change the network to bridged. I have moved on from VM to cloud installation as VM was not very practical over internet.

Hi,
Generally, if you cannot connect from the host (your PC) to the guest (the HANA VM), there is a firewall blocking the port. There is no firewall running on the HXE VM, so it will be your (Windows) Firewall. A simple test would be to switch it off and see if you can connect.
You might find the SAP HANA, express edition playlist on the SAP HANA Academy of interest:
