ABAP components are not appearing after Stack file is generation in MOPZ

Hello, We are currently have SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 SP24 installed and we are trying to Upgrade this to SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP04 (Latest). So, for starting the Solution Manager 7.1 Upgrade, we need to generate the Upgrade XML file in Maintenance Optimizer (SOLUTION_MANAGER). When we tried to calculate the Upgrade XML, at the 2.6 step in the Maintenance Transaction, the ABAP support pakcages are not visible except ST-ICO & ST-SER and Java Components. FYI - We have checked the RFC connections for OSS in SM59 & RFC's in SMSY. All are working fine. Could you please let us know if anyone has faced this issue.

Thanks & Regards, Prabhu Reddy.

Hi

This is the official answer of SAP to this behavior.

Actually the MOPZ calculates correctly. On March 5, 2012, SAP released a new upgrade DVD for the SAP Solution Manager 7.1, which contains Stack 04, so when you selects Stack 04, generally no ABAP packages will be calculated, because all of them are already on the DVD. Please use

Stack XML together with the new DVD for the upgrade.

Hello Mateus,

Thanks for the response.

Yes, you're right, SAP has released new Upgrade DVD and we have to use this DVD & XML created by MOPZ.

We have a problem during the Extraction phase:

After the Extraction phase completed successfully, the SOLMANUP program detected all the Upgrade DVDs except the XML + Support Packages downloaded by MOPZ.

You mean to say we have to place the XML created by MOPZ in Support Package Stack 04 DVD manually and remove the XML that comes with DVD.

Please clarify the above and cofirm if you would had come across the same issue.

Thanks & Regards,

Prabhu Reddy.

Hi,

as you already mentioned sap note SAP Note 1577909 - Additional information about Solution Manager 7.1 SR1

It cleary states you have to put the XML generateed by Mopz and all the software patches direcly to the download directory and proceed.

and it also mentions dont use the stack xml comes with DVD.

have you tried this? please clarify?

Thanks

Hello Jansi,

Yes, we had put all the Upgrade DVDs + XML + Downloade Support Packages created by MOPZ in the Download Directory and started the Upgrade Program.

After the Extraction phase, does the SOLMANUP tool will extract all the necessary files in to EPS\in directory automatically or do we need to put the files manually by doing UNCAR.

Thanks & Regards,

Prabhu Reddy.

Hi Prabhu,

Normally not required, It should be in the download directory, during configuration phase, system will ask the path for the download directory, later Upgrade program reads this directory and ucar the files to the eps/in.

what is actuall "downloaded support packages by MOPZ" , since the new upgrade DVD itself has stack 4.

are you using new dvd which having stack 4?

please check and read the upgrade guide to fill up the gaps currently you are facing?

Jansi

Hello Jansi,

Yes, we are using Support Package Stack 04 Upgrade DVD only, but XML will have different entries right. How would it work having XML generated by MOPZ and the Support Package Stack 04 Upgrade DVD having entries.

You mean to say, we have to place the XML file in the Support Package Stack Upgrade DVD 04 and remove the standard XML and Continue the Upgrade.

-----------------------------------------------------------

"what is actuall downlaoded support packages by MOPZ?"

when XML is generated, it will calculate some files right, we downloaded those files and placed in the Download directory.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Please suggest how to proceed further.

Thanks & Regards,

Prabhu Reddy.

Hello Jansi,

I have a doubt that, when SOLMANUP tool extracts, it has to place the extracted files directly into the usr\sap\trans\EPS\in directory right?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Best Regards,

Prabhu Reddy.

Can you see abap components appear in SMSY & SLD?

Hello Nicholas,

Thanks for the response. We checked in SMSY & SLD, all the ABAP+JAVA components are available.

SAP also replied that we have to use all Solution Manager 7.1 Upgrade DVDs and the XML created by MOPZ.

Now we are stuck with the Configuration phase where it is trying to find out the extracted files in the EPS\in directory.

When we started the SOLMANUP upgrade tool:

It finished the Initialization phase, Extraction Phase successfully, but when we checked the extracted files in the EPS\in directory, the files were not available. In the Extraction phase, it detected all the SolMan Upgrade DVDs automatically except the Downloaded support packages created by MOPZ.

We also continued with the next phase called Configuration Phase and provided the Stack.XML created by MOPZ, but still  it did not accept and it was trying to find out the files from the EPS\in directory.

We noticed that the SOLMANUP upgrade tool didnot extract properly. Now the question is whether we need to extract the Support Packages manually and put them in the EPS\in DIRECTORY or is there any way to continue further?

Kindly suggest at the Critical Stage of the SOLMAN 7.1 Upgrade.

Appreciate your help!!

Thanks & Regards,

Prabhu Reddy.

Hi Prabhu Reddy,

Could you please check is there any updated version of solmanup in SMP?  If yes, i would advise you to download and use the latest solmanup.

how about copy all files and xml from your download dir to /usr/sap/trans and give it a try?

Cheers,

Hello Prabhu,

Even we had faced a couple of issues related to XML file. Can you just mention the exact error text that pops up when you provide the stack.xml file.

hi,

please first check whether your SPAM is patched to latest level. if not do this.

why you downloaded the patches from MOPZ and at the same time you mentioned you were using DVD,

I am confused, could you please read the page No : 83 of the Upgrade guide again, it gives you the view on how to add the support packages.

Thanks

Hello Nicholas,

We had downloaded the SOLMANUP 1.0 Patch 39 which is the latest in SMP.

Extracting the SP files and placing them is last option we have, but the SOLMANUP tool has to detect the directory and extract all files to EPS\in automatically.

But we will give a try and check.

Thanks & Regards,

Prabhu Reddy.

Hello Prashant,

When we provide the Stack.XML file during the Configuration Phase roadmap, it accepted and when we go to next step, it will check the files in the EPS\in directory.

That means during the extraction, all the relevant files has to be extracted by SOLMANUP program and place them in EPS\in.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks & Regards,

Prabhu Reddy.

Hello Jansi,

We had Updated the Latest SPAM version just before starting the Upgrade. The SOLMANUP tool also checked and it was fine.

We downloaded the Support Packages + XML created by MOPZ

"As per the SAP Note 1577909 - Additional information about Solution Manager 7.1 SR1"

The note says, we have to provide the Stack.XML file generated by MOPZ if your SolMan is at SP24 or higher.

(We are having SAP SolMan version is SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 SP24).

Thanks & Regards,

Prabhu Reddy.
