How to bring in Text of Master data in WAD/IP Report?

Hi Experts,

I have an IP report with dropdown selections for Calendar Year,Product & Business Partner.

This IP report is based on WAD which sits over a BEx query.

My requirement is to have Text of Product & Business Partner in the dropdown box and not the Key.

The catch is that my report layout is such that the product & business partner are in hidden mode and cannot be shown in the BEx query.

If I change the setting and make these 2 characteristics as display as 'Text & Key' the dropdown works fine. However, these fields are also shown on the IP report which is not the requirement.

Is there a way in WAD(May be through some HTML backend query) to bring in the text of master data without making it visible in the query?

Hi Neeraj,

The work needs to be done in the Query Designer. Select the characteristic in the query designer and in the properties area there is a drop down box called 'Display'. Here select the option 'key and text'. Then the text from the master data for that infoobject will be displayed.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Jerry,

Thank you for your input.

Thats the catch here.

If I make the particular Characteristic as display in the BEx it will also be shown in the IP report.

Customer demand is not to have the characteristic in the report layout but only in the dropdown box.

Right now to make the query input enable I had to add all the characteristics in the BEx query and have made them hidden. Its a monthly based planning report.

Hi Neeraj,

You can also put the fields in the free characteristics area. So that it will not be displayed in the report and at the same time it will be in the report also.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Jerry,

If I put any characteristic in the free characteristic area the BEx query then is no longer input enabled.

IP wants all the characteristic of the aggregation layer to be in the BEx query either in Rows or Coulumns to make it Input Enabled.

Hi Neeraj,

You can restrict it in the free characteristics without affecting the query and thus you can make it input enabled.

Hi Jerry,

I had already tried this option. The issue here is if I give a range as filter then the report is not input enabled. This is because the query can't judge the exact record to be edited.

Also, I can't restrict product or customer on a single value to make the report input enabled.

Hi Neeraj,

Do not restrict the characteristic. Just put it in the free characteristics..

Hi Jerry,

It doesn't work that way. If I put characteristics in Free space in BEx then the report is no more Input enabled.

Hi Neeraj,

you need to enable disaggregation of the input enabled key figure. Then the key figure stays input ready, if you move the characteristics to the Free Chars.

Hope that helps,

best regards,
