System id for the J2EE engine?

Where do I set the system and install number for the J2E Engine? Is this something that I configure before I request a license, or is this something I get when I request a license key from sap?

My understanding of licensing is that for a development system, I need only get a license for the J2E engine itself; I don't need a license for Portals+KM as long as I don't exceed the three user limit. Correct?

    Hi Ken,

    > Where do I set the system

    > and install number for the J2E Engine?

    When you are installing the WAS. So:

    > Is this something that I configure

    > before I request a license

    ==> Yes.

    About your second question I'm unsure, but it sounds reasonable; the "three user limit" I know from old EP5 days, if you have any documentation that this also holds for EP6, then you seem to be right.

    Hope it helps

    • Hi Ken,

      I'm sorry, seems that I have been wrong again --- normally I'm a bit more accurate, sorry again.

      Now I have looked into the license file as well as into sap service marketplace / license key ordering.

      All you put in there is the System-ID and the hardware key.

      The other both numbers are within the license key file you get from SAP afterwards. As said, so far I have been correct, not changeable 😊

      I hope we come to an end now... 😊

      Sorry again
