Restart RFC Receiver Adapter Channel in XI 3.0

Former Member

Hi all,

I have a problem when the R/3 Backend receiver of the RFC call through XI 3.0 shutdown the weekend.

When XI restarts but the R/3 is not up, the RFC adapter (receiver communication Channel of R/3 backend) fails. In the Adapter monitor I can see the error:

"Can't connect to gateway".

The only way I know to solve this problem is going to the Integration Directory and Inactivate the communication channel, save changes and activate change list. Then re-activate the channel, save changes and activate change list.

At this moment, the RFC Adapter of the R/3 receiver registers on the gateway and is visible in SMGW transaction.

Is there any other way to restart the RFC adapter channel of one backend (or all at the same time)?

Thank you

Best regards

Luis

Hi once more,

now I see you got the other RFC adapter

but can't you just wait till the r3 starts completely?

and then wake up the XI?

Hello Michal,

I can't control the startup process of the R/3 because that system is under another backup policy and shutdown schedulling.

I think the option of disable the initial check parameter of the RFC Adapter could be enough to solve the problem.

Do you know if this parameter impact another runtime behavior?. I prefer in case of failure that temporaly the rfc doesn't run, but after the comunication error automaticaly the adapter works without manual change or administration and support maintenance.

Hi,

1.but you have to control the startup of the XI only not the R3

2. I'm not using this parameter on PRD because we persuade clients to start XI after R3

so I'd suggest many tests
