Dear All,
I want to have 2 item category groups(NORM and ZCON) for 2 distributional channels( 01 and 02) and i created the same.
I assigned the item category groups(NORM for 01 distribution channel and ZCON for 02 distribution channel) to the material in the field "item category group" .
Now i want to know that whether the same has to be assigned to "General item category group"
If i assign and if i not assign what are the implications?i.e which areas it will effect?

No need for the assignment. For item category determination in the sales order, assignment at item category group level assignment is enough.

If you assign, then if any value is not assigned in item category group level, then the system can use General item category group value to determine item category in the sales order.
If not assigned, there is no problem as item category determination utilize the value assigned at item category group level.
