Deletion of DC from DTR

Hello,

I've been trying to delete a DC that we don't need anymore from DTR, but it doesn't want to go. I know how to delete folders using the command line and that works fine, but when I try to delete the folder at the top of the DC, it gives the following message:

>delete -r --sure //MRCMO/meridium.com_RCMO/dev/inactive/DCs/meridium.com/rcmo/jaxmec

Deleting subtree starting from //MRCMO/meridium.com_RCMO/dev/inactive/DCs/meridi

um.com/rcmo/jaxmec

Folder item is not mounted. Cannot check out file : //MRCMO/meridium.com_RCMO/dev/inactive/DCs/meridium.com/rcmo/jaxmec For Delete.

I cannot use the mapped drive to DTR in Windows Explorer to delete (gives me a non-descriptive error message) and the deletion is not allowed in the NWDS DTR client. I am logged in as a user with admin permissions.

So, how is it done?

Thanks.

Rob

Hi Rob,

Till JDI SP9 version there is no option for deleting DC ot workspace/workspace folders, if you are using sp11 i hope it is possible. AS you are aware that you can delete subtrees directly from NWDS,(In checkout mode). Another possiblity is command prompt of your dtrshell.bat

excute the command >deleteworkspace -w "Folderpath" before excuting this command Make sure that " For your project/Workspace for you User enough previlages are given i mean ACL are enabled" right click on your workspace and ACL's have you given read, write, modify enabled.

Hope this solves your problem

I'm using SP11 and I also hope it is possible.

I can't delete from the DTR view in NWDS and the problem could be permissions related. Sometimes, permissions show up in the DTR Permissions view for the workspace and sometimes they do not. If I try to add permissions to a principal, it doesn't work (OK on the Add Principal dialog doesn't seem to do anything - I even sniffed the packets with Ethereal and I didn't see any relevant traffic.) I sometimes get the following message in the DTR Console window:

Resource for mountpoint was not found on repository: /dtr/ws/system/config/active/ACLs/

If I go to that folder in the Windows Explorer, I can see an acl.xml file that grants all permissions to all in the /dtr/ws/system/config/active/ACLs/byPath folder. Some documentation of these files and folders in DTR would be useful.

Thanks for the response.

Hi Rob,

You have to create a DTR client in NWDS by yourself. You cannot use the DTR clients created while importing an dev.configuration.

I tried using a non-imported DTR client as Helmut suggested and got further. Now it shows me the permissions and has an option to delete the subtree as described in the documentation link RK sent.

When I first tried it, I got some error messages (FAILED: Folder Item is remote). I tried sync and then delete subtree and it worked.

The answer to the original question (how to delete DCs from DTR?) is log into a non-imported DTR client, sync the DC you want to delete and then delete subtree.

Thanks for your help, Helmut and RK.
