Reversal of serial managed insp lot stock

Hi Expert,

We have serial number managed FERT material. Now business has created return order & return delivery of the customer return material..So system has created inspection lot (Insp type 05) for same scenario. Stock was in QI but business clear this stock & posted to unrestricted.

Now person who did stock posting he realized there was some prob in original document, so he want to reverse the document. If he tried to reverse the document then he get message stock deficiency in QI, b'se it is already posted in UNR. So he tried to manually move stock from UNR to QI & do reversal of original docs but then he get error message "insp lot stock partially posted"..so I ask him to move stock back in UNR...there stock suppose to as per insp lot status..

FYI - Business trying to reverse delivery through transaction VL09 (Reverse Goods movement)..This material has multiple qty in this document...so multiple serial number & each Serial number has ESTO status.

I already checked SAP note - 175842 to reverse insp lot stock, but found that this note does not support to serial number managed insp lot stock...

So I'm not sure how to do reversal of delivery document..

Please suggest if you know any alternate reversal transaction or way to reverse this stock/ docs. Reply highly appreciated.

The only other alternative I can suggest to try, is make sure sure you have no QI stock of the material.  Delete all the inspection types for the material from the material master.  Move the stock in question to QI stock now using standard material movements.  Then try to reverse your delivery document. If that doesn't work, you are pretty much hosed.

Since the OSS note doesn't support serial numbers you can't use that.  Once you have made the UD and done the stock posting, you are done.

Your only other alternative that I can think of is to write off the inventory you created using maybe something like 562. You will need to work with your financial folks to determine the best way to get the material out of your system financially.    Create a new return delivery and receive it in correctly.

Thanks FF for reply. After removing inspection type from material master we are able to post stock from UNR to QI, but moment we try to reverse original documents, system give us message saying - "insp lot stock partially posted" & does not allow to reverse. This we have already tested & error was expected..

Now we are looking for some alternate solution, please suggest.

When it says the material was partially posted, it usually indicates a shortage of material.  Make sure the qty that is trying to be reversed matches the qty you have in QI.  If you had any destructive testing on the initial insp. lot,  you might have written off some qty for testing purposes.  That material would have to be reversed as well and placed into QI before the document reversal can be done.

One last option.  Look at the return delviery and check the administration page for the material.  See if you see a stock type and if it has an X or a 2 in it indicating quality stock.  If so, have your ABAP'er find out the structure name this is held in.  Run the reversal in debug mode and have the ABAP'er change this to a null value.  I think it will then look for the stock in unrestricted inventory.  (make sure your stock is in unrestricted inventory when you do this)..

We don't have any destructive testing & all qty are available in system...I don't want to go for ABAPer for change value in debug mode. Please suggest something different solution if possible.
