Multilevel BOM ISSUE

Hi Experts,

While I was trying to create a Multilevel BOM I faced the below problem .

Suppose I have created a material "A" that have two components material "1" and material "2".This material A exploded correctly when I created a sales order,which was initially single level.

Now I tried multilevel BOM ,in which I made the material "1" consisting of two sub components "x" and "y". Now I want in my sales order material "A" to explode with "1" and "2" and material "1" to explode with "x" and "y".

While trying to do this I faced a error while trying to explode material "A" saying "No item Category For Component 1(T184:1) Error Code :V1617.

I have marked the structure scope field of tab Bill of materials as "B" for TAP,TAQ,TAN,TAE.

I have also maintained item categories assignments  properly for my sales order which is AOR.

Please guide.

Hi, ritu

are you doing BOM with ERLA or LUMF.

1.please see the below assingnments for ERLA.

OR    ERLA      -        -        TAQ  (this is for main item)

OR    ERLA      -      TAQ    TAE  (this is sub item for main iotem but this is also actas the main item)

OR   NORM     -      TAE     TAE (this is for sub item for above assignment) 

so, you will put the structure scope in TAQ and the statistical value put in TAE

after these assignments ,you verify ERLA is present in materials.

same like that in LUMF ,

OR     LUMF      -       -           TAP

OR     LUMF      -       TAP      TAN

OR     ZORM      -       TAN      TAE

please verify the strcture scope in TAP and  in TAE statistical value

after you will verify and you will getting that error .please send the screen shots.

Remove your MRP Type ND in assiignments and do again.

MRP type is mandatory field I think.

Hi,

Nothing to do with MRP Type or Schedule line determination config. First business has to decide at what level will be the pricing/delivery/costing etc.., then customization has to done accordingly.

eg: 1.business wants to pricing for main item level, dispatch @ subitem level.

2. Pricing can be sub item level but costing should be at main item ( which is again cost cumulating from all sub items)

but to explode multi BoM in sales order. sub item ,which has also acts as main item(contains sub item) should configure as main item.

As suggested above, item category group & item category settings should be done.

for me, Multi BoM is not just exploding in sales order, there are many other factors involves such as pricing,dispatch,inventory costing,Billing & Invoice to Customer.

Hi,

By looking at the error provided by screen shot. Item category determination for material:1670 is not done. check in Tx:VOV4

Doc type = OR

Item category group = NORM

Higher level Item category = Item category of Sub item, not the main item item cat. ( eg:1669)

Default item category = TAE

items : 1669 & 1670 will have same item category.

Check & revert. if possible provide screen shot of item category determination you have done.

material 1669 and 1670 , check the item category s, for you screen shot it shows , material 1669 is component of 1670 , it means 1670 material is main item , item category TAQ,    so system sows item category error for 1670 material , please change the item category for 1670 material , or you can change the component , 1670 is all ready header item , its component is 1669 , please check the  CS01 for material 1670, its their is any component is assign , and also check the CS01 for 1667 material and his components item category s , component item category s all TAE only .

Hi,

I have made some changes ,now  my main material which is 1667 is getting exploded correctly into 1668 and 1669,but 1669 which should  also explode into 1670 is not getting exploded .Now there is no error message in sales order .

yes know ok, it means header level bom is 1667,

components is 1668,1669 .

but you want 1670 material also exploded in sale header material 1667

header level -1667

components- 1668,1669,1670

so go to cs02 and add the material 1670,

but 1669 which should  also explode into 1670 is not getting exploded .Now there is no error message in sales order .

it means

1669 is header material

1670 is component .

how its possible , header material also is their 1667, here 1669 it item material , its not exploded ,

1669 is header and component material you can maintain , it is not correct you maintain only one header or item , because once once material is component then it always component , once material is header material is always maintain only , so you can remove the 1670 item in 1669 material and it 1667 bom level the it will come

Hi,

Goto CS02- enter your Main material i.e.1667, plant, BoM usage-& enter.

In overview screen, select line item: 1669 & click on "Sub items" button , add components of this item i.e. 1670 & save. ( note: Assume you already maintained BoM master data for material 1669)

It works now, 1669 will explode with 1670.

If you are ok with the configuration which you has done have a look into your sales order type(VOV8)

Here display range should be UALL (All items). Can you confirm this one also. Check and revert.
