Views - local/global

Hello Gurus,

Can someone tell me if I can create local views. I created a query for the users but they just wanted to play around and save them as local views on their system but shouldn't be viewed globally. I know its one way leading to lot of space issues involved but the role is just given for few users. So can we save views just like queries locally.

Any ideas are more than welcome and will be equally appreciated.

    Hi Priya,

What do you mean when you say that "can we save views just like queries locally"..because queries are not stored locally you mean to say that the users want to look and navigate through the data and store the navigational state...wouldn't workbooks help you here? You can store a BW report as an excel workbook (not on the server) and then refresh it...

I'm very new to BW, web templates, html and javascript. Could you please give me some advice on how to correctly implement a button in a web template to save and display a local view?

I am using the 0ADHOC and 0ADHOC_TABLE delivered templates and editing them for our users. I added a Query View Selection (QVS) web item to 0ADHOC. The 0ADHOC_TABLE already has a "Save View" button that lets users save a global view.

My problem is I can't figure out how to add a button to 0ADHOC_TABLE that lets the users save a LOCAL view to their Favorites folder. They would like to be able to see the global views in the QVS drop-down list, plus their own saved 'Favorites' views.

I tried adding LOCAL_VIEW=X to a copy of the global view button but that's not enough.

Can you help me understand what I am doing wrong?

Below I've pasted the 0ADHOC template's object tags for the QVS web item and for the QueryName item that has the HELP_SERVICE for saving a view. After that I pasted the 0ADHOC_TABLE html for the button to save a local view (doesn't work right, of course).

      Thank you for any advice!
