Help on Warranty

Hi friends ,

We have one business case for Warranty that we receive from manufacturer or vendor . This warrant can be in terms of TOTAL NO OF WORKING HOURS (like upto 500 hours) or in terms of time (like 1 year ) .

What I am thinking :

In case of Time based warranty : Once a PM order is being created , using some exit ,we should check the warranty of the equipment . If equipment is in warranty then displaying a pop up to user that equipment is still in warranty . Do u want to continue or not ?

In case of Counter Based Warranty : A meas point for the warranty counter should be created first and the meas doc should be posted against it regularly . Once a PM order is being created , using some exit ,we should check the warranty hours entered in field "MASTER Warranty" in equipment master with the meas. point final reading . If equipment is in warranty then displaying a pop up to user that equipment is still in warranty . Do u want to continue or not ?

I know system gives a standard pop up displaying last maintenance order data and warranty data but we want a pop up showing info regarding warranty exactly .

Please correct me if I am wrong . Also please suggest if some body is having a better solution for this .
