Hi,
We had created few products without selection of Batch management turned on.
Now, once we have stock booked in against a new material number, it does not let us turn the batch management "ON". This is creating problems from Product traceability point of view.
How can this be addressed/fixed?
Thanks,

70818 FAQ: changing batch mgt indicator for a material
As advised in note 30656, changing the batch indicator can only be performed when there is no existing stock in present and previous period. The system behaves like this due to possible inconsistencies that would occur if you post goods movements for previous periods when there was no batch management. Therefore, it is not recommended to comment off the check for stock.
You will need to delete any open documents and reverse any material movements on this material. If batches (even zero stock batches!) are still assigned to the material you must delete them and reorganize the tables MCH1, MCHA and MCHB.
At this point the flag could be changed.

Hi,
Batch management of existing material can not be done if it has stock and value. You can keep stock value NIL (by reversing) for those Product and then proceed with batch management for turn the batch management "ON" in material master ( in t.code: MM02).
