Redirecting Extraction Objects to new Client

We are merging to SAP implementation initiatives, one being an ERP/CRM/BW and the other is HR. We are creating a new integration client in DEV to host the integrated configuration and testing and we, as the customer, would like to create a new integrated QAS client. Our implementers are discouraging this because of the BW. They say all the extraction objects and others would need to be changed in BW to point to the new QAS integration clients (ERP/CRM). This makes sense, however they say it will take several weeks of manual configuration to redirect the transfer objects to point to the new clients. Is there a simpler way? Perhaps a method where they can be done in mass? Or should we approach the issue differently?

Thanks in advance,

    Hi Greg,

if I right understood, basically your question is: "if I switch a client source system to another one what's the effect ?"...

Well, if your new environment is a copy (from BW point of view: datasource, tables, delta queues....) of the previous one, the most important thing to do is a BDLS conversion (and you don't need to recreate nothing at all) !

For more details take a look to OSS Notes:

184322 'Procedure after DB copy of BW source system'

325470 'Activities after client copy in BW source systems'

325525 'Copying and renaming systems in a BW environment'

    Hope it helps!
