Hi Bhima,

You can delete transaction data from infocube with out deleting master data. You can do any of the following...

1. Delete entire contents by right click on cube.

2. Selective delete after clicking on "manage" based on any characteristics in cube.

3. Delete any request id after clicking on "manage" from cube.

But... if you want to delete entire master data, you must delete transaction data first. If you try to delete master data with out deleting transaction data, it'll allow to delete only master data which are not used in infocubes.

Hope it helps.

Hi,

Thanx for your help Ashsish, Roberto, Jithesh. I dont why I am not able to award points for you. Sorry for the inconvinenace.

Jithesh, U said that we need to delete the related Transaction data before deleting the entire Master data. How do we know the related transaction data?

Thanx,

Bhima.

Bhima,

about points please wait some minute because I think there is some server problem...

about master data deletion, the rule is: you can delete all the master data of an infoobject, but only if this masterdata is not contained in any provider (transactional data)...so you can do a where-used list on the infoobject and then check object by object...

Hope it helps!

Hi Roberto,

Suppose master data is been used in two infocubes A and B. I want to delete the entire master data, so we must delete the related transaction data in A and B as a pre-requisite. But what if I want to maintain the transaction data in B even though I want to delete the entire master data? There is no problem in deleting transaction data of A.

Thanx,

Bhima.

Till you don't delete all the 'reference' transactional data, you will not be able to delete the entire master data content...(you will be able to delete only all the values not contained in your B cube!)

Hi Bhima,

You have to check in the infocube transaction data to find out the master data used.

In your example, until you delete transaction data from both cubes A and B, it'll not allow you to delete entire master data.

If you try to delete master data with out deleting transaction date, it'll give you an option EITHER not to delete any master data OR to delete unused master data.

Thanks & Regards,

Bhima,

you can do

a complete deletion of the content,

a selective deletion and

a specific request deletion.

1)right-click on the cube and 'Delete Data'

2)http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/4e/b71038cba6a169e10000009b38f8cf/content.htm

3) manage-> highlight a single request(s)->delete(in the bottom of the page)

Hope it helps!

Hi Bhima,

You need not to delete Master data for deleting the transaction data.

Simply, go to the InfoCube right click and say Delete Data.

Hope this helps.
