How to maintain different alternative unit of measure at different locations for the same product ?

Hello Experts,

I got this issue while working on TLB

Vendor 1 -----------------------Product 1 (60% Quota), 26 Pallets/Truck, 60 Cases/Pallet-----------------------> DC1

Vendor 2 -----------------------Product 1 (40% Quota), 26 Pallets/Truck, 55 Cases/Pallet-----------------------> DC1

In TLB profile I was maintaining maximum truck load of 26 pallets.

For this, I wanted to maintain in the Product Master Data different alternative unit of measure at different locations.

In this case I wanted to maintain

1 Pallet = 60 Cases at Vendor 1

1 Pallet = 55 Cases at Vendor 2

Instead of updating the values at global level, I selected Vendor 1 and gave 1 Pallet = 60 Cases, but the same value is being updated at Vendor 2 as well, instead of 55 Cases.

Please let me know how to do that.

Thank you,

Venkata

Hi Venkata,

UoM is a global data, so it would get maintained at a global level only. When you select a location while displaying/changing the product, it means that you would see the location specific data IN ADDITION TO the global data.

For your scenario, you should use 2 different UoMs for the 2 different palletes that you would be getting from Vendor 1 and Vendor 2. I could see various UoMs like P01, P02, .. for palletes. You could pick up 2 of them, and maintain 2 UoM conversions for the palletes belonging to the 2 vendors.

e.g. 1 P01 = 60 cases, 1 P02 = 55 cases

And then create 2 different TLB profiles for the 2 T-lanes between the DC and the 2 vendors. Use pallete UoM P01 in one T-Lane, and pallete UoM P02 in the other T-Lane. This should take care of your issue.

Thank you Pawan.

Can we assign different TLB profiles to different products in the same T-Lane?

I have a scenario where Vendor has to send different materials to a Warehouse. Each Material is of different size, so no. of cases per pallet varies and the max no. of pallets/truck is constant. Is there a way where I can assign different TLB profiles for different products in the same T-Lane?

Thanks,

Venkata

Hi Venkata,

This part is simple. Since your palletes/truck is the same, and the discussion is about different products, you just need to maintain different UoM conversion from pallete (one particular UoM for pallete) to Case for the different product master data. The conversion from pallete to Case would be different for the different materials, and you just need to maintain condition in TLB profile for the palletes.

You don't need different TLB profiles in the T-Lane for this. The above will take care of your issue.

TLB profile is maintained at T-Lane level for the means of transport, and not for the products.

PS: Assuming that you really had different kind of palletes for different materials which would have led to different palletes/truck for the different materials, then in the SAME TLB profile, you could have maintained multiple conditions for the different kind of palletes (different UoMs for different palletes). Then in the different material masters, you could have maintained UoM conversion for the different pallete UoMs to the case (which would be the base UoM for the material).

This would have been a bit tricky since you would have needed to have a UoM conversion from ALL the pallete UoMs to the base UoM for ALL the materials (even though a particular material wouldn't use a particular pallete). Luckily this is not the situation for you.

Hi,

You have to maintain your UoM by location in Location/Product (not in global data).
