Creating asset all fields grayed out

Hi

I'm trying to install asset accounting on my client and I'm having an issue while creating new assets (AS01). The problem is that when I enter the asset creation screen ALL the fields are grayed out (except Base Unit of Measure). When I go to Extras -> Group Box Info I get this information:

Manage historically  Display  Status in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Inventory number     Display  Status in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Acct determination   Display  Status in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Base Unit of Measure Maintenance pStatus in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Quantity             Display  Status in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Serial number        Display  Status in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Additional description     DisplayStatus in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Description          Display  Status in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Longtxt.:C-acc.view  Display  Status in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Long text exists     Display  Status in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Techn.view long text Display  Status in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Asset main no. text  Display  Status in screen layout rule (screen selection)
Manage historically  Display  Status in screen layout rule (screen selection)

Now, obviously I wanted to check out the status in screen layout rule, so I went to Spro -> Financial Accounting (New) -> Asset Accounting ->Master Data -> Screen Layout ->Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data

Then, I enter the same information corresponding to the asset I'm creating ( Screen layout, Logical field groups, Field group rules). Everything in this screen looks normal (almost all the fields are set to optional), but still I'm getting the mentioned problem.

Is there something else I could look at to solve this?

Thanks.

Hello guys

I will show you what I'm looking at

And this is the screen layout for that asset class:

I think the most important thing to notice here is that even if I wanted to, I can't set fields like "description" to "display".

Oh well.... I guess you did what you could 😞

Please Set the Fields to "mandatory" in the Screen Layout. See what Happens.

I solved it by re transporting all Asset Accounting-related customizing orders to QA. Who knows what setting was the one creating this issue...

Still a million thanks to you guys, I learned a lot from this problem

Thanks!

Thank you guys, I am really glad for your help, but unfortunately it wasn't the asset views .

First, I made sure my user was assigned to asset view 1 (asset accounting) because documentation says you can't create a new asset unless your user is assigned to asset view 1. So, after I created a new asset (Even if it was pretty much blank)  I knew my user was assigned to the asset view 1.

Then, I went to Tcode ANSICHT -> Entered my Chart of Depreciation -> Asset View 1 -> Authorization for Master Data Fields. I found that all fields are marked as Maintenance Authorization, so this wasn't the issue for me .

I also tried checking if I had a chart of depreciation dependant rule, but that was not the case.

Last, I tried checking Tcode SU53 after trying to create a new asset but again, SU53 showed no authorization errors.

Is there anything else I could look at?

Thanks

Wasn't there an Option, Wehre you can define: "Can only be maintained on asset class Level".

Hi,

this is made in the screen layout rule.

CU: FI-AA:

-> Master Data

    -> Screen Layout

-> Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data

-> Define Screen Layout for Asset Depreciation Areas

Thanks Bernhard, but I already said in my initial post that I checked that spro route when I first had the problem but still everything looks OK there. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Have you checked the settings of the "asset views"? Sometimes they are disabled, and no field entries are possible. Search the documentation for "asset view".

Hi,

1) Do you have a chart-of-depreciation-dependent screen layout rule?

2) Please check tr. ANSICHT

3) Is it a Authorization problem? Could you please check with different User-profiles?

I bet on the asset views 🙂
