Hi all,
We have a requirement to get a file which has 1200 fields and do a content conversion...Is XI data type definition able to accomodate this huge structure??Anybody faced this sceanrio before...I am also curious whether a text file can accomodate so many fields ..

We have similar-sized data. As long as you are on SP11 or higher, content conversion can take in that many characters when defining all your fields, yes. Remember content conversion is only made for header/lines - not nested children/grandchildren, etc.
I would suggest exporting your data type, and using some TextPad tool to pull out your field names - because if you spell them wrong in content conversion, you'll have a fun time finding your errors.
Happy typing...
