When are PR's generated in md04?

Former Member

Hi All,

Im running md04 for a material whose

Re-order point - 150

Max stock level - 200

Safety stock - 50

Lot size - hb  (replenish to max stock level)

MRP type- VB

When i ran it for the 1st time , i got available quantity as 150 units and reqmt/receipt - 200 for the 1st PR. Next i added some stock through 561 mvt type and the available quantity changed to 200 units. Then i created a reservation for 100 units, 1 week after the 1st PR fulfilment.

Now question is after creating a reservation why isnt mrp triggering pr for 100 quanity as available quantity fell to 100 and it should replensih to max stock level which is 200 ?

If you want to consider the reservation in net requirement calculation, you should use MRP type as V1-reorder point planning with external requirement

Hi Senthil,

I just ran a scenario with mrp type v1 (External reqmts within replenishment lead time) and created a reservation within the planned delivery time (15 days) . Stock is nil as of today , created a manual reservation for 02/04/2012 , even though the replenishment lead time is more than the requirement date , shouldnt it create PR ?

Thanks.

I am not sure where you picked the term v1 (External reqmts within replenishment lead time)

As per my knowledge, V1 => Automatic reorder point planning including external requirements.. for your example, system will consider the reservation quantity and will propose the PR as per below formula..

Reorder point + Requirement(reservation) – Available stock – Open PR/PO = Net Requirement

And logically you should've planned that material before if the replenishment lead time is 15 days. that's how MRP helps you to plan all your requirements and proposal well in advance to avoid any bottle neck situations.

If you go to OMDQ , V1 in the system is defined as Manual re-order point w ext requirements. Under control parameters you will see under Include ext reqmts, key 2 is External reqmts within replenishment lead time...

It is surprising to me that with MRP type V1 , during mrp run , no procurement proposals are being generated when i create a reservation for 100 units . The initial PR replenishing stock to max stock level is created the 1st time I run mrp , thus the available qtty is showing as 200 for the day the GR is happening .Then if there is a manual reservation within the replensihment lead time (say if i create one with reqt date as the day of the GR itself) , the available stock comes down to 100 as a result of the reservation , hence the system should trigger a propcurement proposal for 100 units.. unfortunately this is not the case.

I hope the scenario is clear now.

I wish i could post a screen shot , the site is throwing a error that content type is not allowed

when you said, system dint create a proposal in MRP run... at the time what are the values of

Reorder point - ? , stock - ? , reservation - ? , open PR / PO - ?

did you apply the formula?

because I simulated the same and its triggering the PR for reservation qty.

re-order point - 150; available stock (current stock) -50; reservation - 100;  open pr - 200

In your formula i think we can replace re-order point with maximum stock as my lot size is replenish to max stock level (HB) ; max stock level - 200

Reorder point + Requirement(reservation) – Available stock – Open PR/PO = Net Requirement

= 150 + 100 - 50 - 200 = 0.. so in your case, its obvious system doesnt create the proposal.

net requirement calculation uses the reorder point in net requirement calculation and after that it checks the maximum stock to determine the lot size...

Check this link which clearly explains my statement..

Thanks for the link

As you said if we are using MRP type VB external reqts are not taken into account? then in md04 why is the avilable stock falling at the date if have created the manual reservation ?

MD04 and planning(MD01) are totally different. MD04 shows all the procurement and requirement elements whether its created manually or through MRP.

For example, even you can execute MD04 for a material which doesnt have MRP views at all and you get the data like procurement elements(PR/PO), reservation and available stock.

Hence MD04 has nothing to do with VB or V1. But MD01/MD02 requires VB or V1 for the planning.

Dear Puri,

Run MRP in MD03 and check the impact in MD04.

Only during next MRP run the system triggers automatic PR's or planned orders once when the stock

falls below reorder level.

Is it not possible to post a screen of md04?
