Variables and Cubes

Are global variables created using the variable wizard available to ALL quieries or just those built using the same infocube?

The Global variables created using the wizard are for the Info Object and available across all Info providers.

Ok, I built a global variable using the wizard. Its a Hierarchy node and did it in a CCA cube query. Now when I go to create a WBS cube query that variable is not available for a selection option. Are you sure its across cubes ?

are you using (and looking into) the same infoobject on which you have create this variable ?

Yes Richard, the variables are across the cubes. You just need to check if it is the same infoObject on which you had created it originally.

Hi Richard,

If you have created a heirarchy variable , and using the same info Object , You will first need to assign the heirarchy to the Info Object in the Query..

Once the heirarchy is active in that query , You can see the variable .

Ok, not sure why its called global since its really local to the info object.

Simply because it's global as the infobject on which you create it !
