Credentials required to move the files in and out of XI server !

Hi Guys,

              Please give me a overview of what are the credentials required to move the files around XI server.

If I want to move the file to a third party - I need FTP server name, Port, User Name and Password ?

If I want to send a file to XI server, do I need the same stuff from XI Server ?

Yes you are correct for moving file to a FTP location. You require FTP server name (HOST), Port, User Name and Password.

But in case of sending file to application server (XI Server) you need not all these stuff rather you require a folder in aplication server i.e. Source Directory   and file name.

In case you are not able to get the file from Source Directory then check for the authorisation of the user like SAPserviceSID SID = name of PI system to read that location.

Hi Sam,

If you are using simple FTP, you need to provide FTP server name, port, user name and password. But if you are using FTPS, you need to instsal required certificates from Third pary system in the key store  of XI.

XI will take care of polling and pacing the files from the FTP.

Yes, If it is mounted. If 3rd party maintains the FTP server means need to provide that particular FTP server infomation.

Yeah correct,

Create File communictaion channel then you will know what are the details you required other thna User name,password,port,IP.

You have to get Directort structure and File names also.

If you will be using FTP to send a file to XI then you need the FTP Server Name, Port, Username and Password. In this case, it will be XI that will poll/fetch/get the files from the third-party FTP server.
