Infoset transport

Hi All,

We have created  around 5 custom infosets for segmentation purpose. I would like to know how can these be transported or it is better to create them manually in the target client system.

Thanks,

Apoorv

Hello, Apoorv.

If you create info-sets in Global Area then you can transport them with transport requests.

If you create info-sets in Standard Area then it's more complicated and has to be done through a file (download from source system and upload to target system).

You can read more on both options in this topic here:  Transporting Query Objects

PS: I would not recommend to recreate it on target system. Or your customers will need to pay twice for the same work if your info-sets are complicated And I'd suggest to use Global Area for info-sets as it's connected to transport system and keep consistency.

Thanks Andrei, how can I know whether the created infosets are in global area or standard area.

Apoorv,

when you are in tx. SQ02 for info-sets and can see your info-set then take a note of the first row on the screen (right under application buttons Copy, Rename, Delete etc). Here you will see Query Area. To switch between areas select on the same screen menu path Environment -> Query areas.

BTW, Apoorv, if you use info-sets for segmentation purposes they have to be created in Global Area. It is a prerequisite. So I believe your info-sets can be transported through transport system without any additional manipulations.

Thanks Andrei, also, when I'm transporting these infosets using the program RSAQR3TR, will the standard role/user assignments done for these infosets also be transported or they have to be transported seperately.

Thanks,

Apoorv

Apoorv,

if you transport infosets then they do not relate to users. You assign them to user groups. And in turn you assign users to user group. So transporting infosets you'll not touch any users-to-user-group assignments I think.

Hi Andrei,

While creating infosets we assign role/user group using the "role/user group assignment" option in sq02. So, for my custom infosets I've assigned standard user group to it. I wanted to know whether these assignments are also transported when we transport the infoset.

Thanks,

Apoorv

It depends on the Import option you put in RSAQR3TR. It's well documented. You can find documentation pressing I button right next to Execute one. Check the section Transporting an InfoSet there. You have options like REPLACE, GROUP, MERGE and UNASSIGN.

Hey apoorv,

How are u doing?

Creating them manually would be my recommendation.
