Hello SDNers,
We are currently using the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile app to run some WebI reports. I'm now working on setting the correct Access levels to allow end-users to run the reports (currently it's in test mode, so my user has Admin rights). I can get the enduser to connect to the app successfully, but the report list on the iPad does not display any of the reports, whereas when I connect as an Admin I can see everything.
Here's how it was set up:
Does anyone know where the Query as a Web Service is assigned? Looking at other access levels, it should be under Application, but I can't find it.
Any suggestions on what end-user access is necessary to display the WebI reports on the iPad would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Rudy
Does the user group have access to the folder that the reports are in?
Have you tested the user account in InfoView? Are they able to see the reports?
I'm not sure why you're looking for QaaWS settings, this should not affect which reports show in mobile.

Hi David,
Thanks for your help. We had a consulatant who set most of this up, but he's rolled off the project, so I'm trying to acclimate myself as quickly as possible.
The QaaWS was me trying to replicate the View On Demand access level to see if that was the cause of the error.
We are currently not using InfoView. If I go to the BI Launchpad, I do not see the reports. It looks like the reports were added to the CMC - Categories - Mobile section, and not into a folder. Being that the enduser can't see that option in the launchpad and I can with my admin user, it looks like I need to define the Category section as something the users can see. So I'm getting close. Any other ideas?
Again, thank you for your assistance.
- Rudy
Hi Rudy,
FYI InfoView (XI3.1) is now called BI LaunchPad (BI4.0), they're essentially the same thing, just changed names between versions.
All reports reside in one folder and one folder only. Categories behave like tags. A report can have none, one or many categories, but is always in a folder. Even though categories are displayed as a folder structure, this can be misleading when first learning BusinessObjects, every report must reside in a folder.
The CMC and BI LaunchPad are portals into the same database. The only difference between the two is the range of functions that they perform, in some cases, a feature is present in both ("view report" for example).
So, the answer to your question is to simply allow the user (or their user group) to see the folder that the report is in (or potentially assign rights directly to the report).
Head on over to help.sap.com and grab the administrator manual for a nice overview of permissions/rights in BOBJ.
Thanks again for the insight David. It's been a bit tricky learning this. But I guess it adds to your character, huh?
Adding the reports to a folder will be no problem. I'll then add that folder to the category. Again, I'm using the Category - Mobile, as the reports in the area are the ones that the SAP BI app is picking up to display (again my superuser rights cover up a lot of sins). I'll see if adding the folder will work for the endusers. If not, I'll see if there's something on the iPad app that I have not configured correctly.
I'll definately head over to help.sap.com to get the admin manual. Thanks for you help again.
