New portal window during ESS/MSS navigation

Hi all,

I installed EP SP9 and imported ESS/MSS BP, I'm up to navigate and see Back-end user data. During navigation sometimes when I click on a link a new window browser is turned up and I have to carry on with it. I mean the previous windows status is inactive, likely session closed.

Have you an idea of the problem?

This is probably becuase workprotect mode is turned on. Workprotect mode is basically designed so that if you are doing something in a window and in effect have unsaved data, if you click somewhere else it will open it in a new window so that you do not lose the unsaved data. You can turn it off system wide (but I can't remeber where) or, if you want to test it, look in the personalize link as you probably have workprotect mode in there which you can then turn off just for you.

about personalize link, it is not active, when I click I have no result, do you know why?

OK I got it, effectively is work protect related.

Anyway I did not find where change as a default for all user

I was facing the same problem. But a new window also opened even though there was no data which could get lost. It just opened a new window everytime a new Webdynpro Application was started.

Anyhow I solved the problem by setting the Workprotect Mode centrally. You can find a guide here:
